Savor the tropical flavors with this Piña Colada Burger recipe, blending juicy beef, sweet grilled pineapple, and creamy Piña Colada sauce, for a delightful twist on a classic.

Piña Colada Burger Recipe

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 pineapple rings
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup Piña Colada sauce (see below)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced red onion

For Piña Colada Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 tablespoon rum (optional)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Piña Colada Sauce:

    • In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, coconut cream, pineapple juice, shredded coconut, and rum (if using). Season with salt to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Grill the Pineapple:

    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
    • Grill pineapple rings for 2-3 minutes per side until they have nice grill marks. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Burgers:

    • Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and form into 4 patties.
    • Grill the patties for about 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for your preferred doneness.
    • During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
  4. Toast the Buns:

    • Lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill, cut side down, for about 1 minute.
  5. Assemble the Burgers:

    • Spread Piña Colada sauce on the bottom bun.
    • Place a lettuce leaf and a slice of red onion on each bun.
    • Add the cheese-topped burger patties.
    • Top each burger with a grilled pineapple ring.
    • Spread more Piña Colada sauce on the top buns and place them on the burgers.
  6. Serve:

    • Enjoy your tropical Piña Colada Burgers, perfect for a summer BBQ or a fun twist on the classic burger.
