Arteflame 40" Platinum Series Fire Pit with Cooktop

Regular price $2,495
Two Experiences, One Fire

The Arteflame 40" Platinum Series Fire Pit with Cooktop pairs steakhouse-quality grilling with the largest spun-steel fire bowl made in North America — formed on the same industrial metal-spinning machine used to shape the dome of R2-D2 for Star Wars. The fire bowl itself is spun from a single piece of premium stainless steel with no welds and no seams, giving it a lifetime of durability, a perfectly smooth organic shape, and a brilliant brushed finish that holds up outdoors year-round. Ten precision 1-inch holes in the base feed the fire from below for a virtually smokeless burn. Grill dinner on the ½" solid steel cooktop, searing at 1,000°F+ with real wood-fired flavor — then, once you're done cooking, simply lift the cooktop off and the fire bowl becomes a fire pit for the rest of the evening. It's a great combination of both. Comes complete with the center grill grate and seasoning puck so you can get grilling right away.

Can I use this as a fire pit too, or is it just for grilling?

Both — and switching between them takes seconds. Once dinner's done, lift the ½″ solid steel cooktop off the fire bowl (no tools required) and you've got an open fire pit for the rest of the evening. The fire bowl itself is the largest spun-steel one made in North America, formed on the same industrial metal-spinning machine used to shape the dome of R2-D2 for Star Wars — a single piece of premium stainless steel with no welds or seams. Ten precision 1-inch holes in the base feed the fire from below, so even with the cooktop off you get a virtually smokeless burn — just pull up chairs and enjoy the glow. Set the cooktop back on whenever you're ready to grill again.

Why do I need a grill this large?

A 40″ Arteflame gives you 1,250+ sq in of cooking surface — enough to sear a dozen steaks, keep vegetables and bread cooking, and hold finished food warm on the outer ring, all on one fire. There's enough room to run pots and pans alongside your grilling food, so you can sauté a sauce or simmer a side without ever going back inside to the stove — your entire meal comes together on one surface. Instead of running multiple trips or juggling separate grills, you get one heat source with several temperature zones: a 1,000°F+ center sear cooling to a gentle warming edge. Even for smaller households, the extra capacity means you're never waiting on grill space, and you're always ready to host.

What is the advantage of a solid steel griddle cooktop vs grill grates?

A flat, solid steel griddle opens up what you can actually cook — scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, smash burgers, shrimp, delicate fish, vegetables, even a sauce or side in a pan — foods that would fall through open grates or stick and tear on a grill. Nothing drips down into a flame either, so there are no flare-ups and none of the burnt, bitter edges they cause — just even heat across the whole surface. The flat surface also holds in natural juices and lets flavors mingle right on the cooktop, the way a good diner griddle works, and cleanup is a single flat surface to scrape rather than picking food out of grates. You're not giving up the classic sear, though — the center grill grate is always there in the middle of the cooktop, ready whenever you want true open-flame char and grill marks on a steak or burger. You get the full versatility of a griddle and the sear of a grill, on one cooktop.

Why buy a wood grill when I can get the convenience of gas?

Arteflame runs on hardwood or lump charcoal, which is what makes the 1,000°F+ sear and real wood-fired flavor possible — something a home gas grill can't match. And remember what you're actually cooking over with propane: the same fossil fuel that powers buses, generators, and forklifts. Would you want your steak seared over exhaust fumes? Wood and charcoal give you clean, natural heat and flavor instead. It's still just as easy to live with: preheat in 20–30 minutes, one fire with built-in hot and cool zones instead of a row of burner dials, and a cooktop that essentially cleans itself as the fire burns off drippings. If you'd still like the flip-a-switch option, a gas conversion is available — but most owners stick with wood or charcoal for the sear and flavor it delivers.

What is the cleaning and maintenance like?

Minimal. Scrape the cooktop clean with a griddle scraper while it's still warm — the fire burns off most of what's left — then wipe on a light coat of oil to protect the seasoning, the same way you'd care for a cast-iron skillet. There's no porcelain coating to chip and no grates to scrub. Empty the cooled ash after each use, and keep the stainless steel body's drain holes clear; it's built to stay outdoors year-round while keeping its brilliant brushed finish. Whether you spent the evening grilling or just let the fire burn down as a fire pit, the cleanup routine is exactly the same.

How long does it take to heat up?

Give it 20–30 minutes once you get the hang of it — a little longer while you're still learning how your grill likes to run (and 25–30+ minutes in freezing weather). That build-up time lets the ½″ carbon-steel cooktop work as a heat reservoir, giving you steady, even searing temperatures instead of hot and cold spots. If you're not in a rush, letting it go a full hour is even better — the heat has time to even out fully across the entire cooktop, edge to edge. A quick way to check readiness: flick on a few drops of water — if they sizzle and evaporate, you're in the 350–450°F sweet spot; if they vanish instantly, it's over 550°F and time to spread the coals out.

And once you're done cooking, that same fire keeps going — lift the cooktop off and it's ready to enjoy as a fire pit for the rest of the evening.

How do I clean the grill?

  1. While the cooktop is still hot, push food debris and excess oil into the center fire with a straight-edge griddle scraper.
  2. Wipe the surface with a light coat of oil while it's still warm — this feeds the seasoning and guards against oxidation as it cools.
  3. Once the grill has cooled completely, scoop out the ash with a plastic cup or ash tool.
  4. If any oxidation spots appear, buff them out with a Brillo pad, steel wool, or fine sandpaper — this is rare with regular use.

Treat the cooktop like cast iron: no harsh chemical cleaners and no heavy scrubbing required.

It looks like a Claus Oldenburg sculpture. It functions like a wood burning grill & plancha. It's great for steak, fragile fish, veggies and everything in between.

I love this grill - it's made of half-inch carbon steel and corten "weathering" steel with a cooktop that heats from the center out.

Arteflame 40" Platinum Series Fire Pit with Cooktop

A Symphony of Grilling Excellence

Introducing the Arteflame Classic 40" Fire Pit with Cooktop – your gateway to unparalleled grilling adventures. Because the cooktop is one continuous ½" solid steel surface with heat radiating outward from a single center fire, you get several temperature zones on one grill at the same time: a 1,000°F+ sear zone in the middle, moderate heat further out, and a warm holding zone at the edge. That means steaks, chicken, vegetables, and shrimp can all be cooking exactly the way they need to, all at once, on the same fire.

It also means you never have to run back inside to the stove. Set a sauté pan of onions or a pot of pasta water right on the cooktop next to your protein, and your entire meal — starter to dessert — comes together outdoors, on one grill.

And because it's a solid steel surface instead of open grates, you can cook things a regular grill simply can't handle: scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, hash browns, delicate fish, even a shrimp scampi — nothing falls through, and nothing flares up. This complete starter bundle brings it all home in one package, with essential accessories included so you're ready to grill the moment it arrives.

Steak being cooked on a grill with flames and tongs

Two Products in One: Grill by Day, Fire Pit by Night

Once the meal's done, lift the ½" solid steel cooktop off — no tools required — and reveal the open fire bowl underneath. What was searing steaks minutes ago becomes a true fire pit, the natural gathering point for the rest of the evening. There's something almost primal about pulling chairs up around an open flame: conversations run longer, phones stay in pockets, and everyone finds a reason to stay just a little later. Toast marshmallows over the embers, keep a blanket close, and let the fire do the rest — then put the cooktop back on for the next cookout.

Premium Stainless Steel Construction for Durability

Crafted from high-grade US stainless steel, the Arteflame 40" Fire Pit is not just a barbecue but a durable piece of art — the largest spun-steel fire bowl made in North America, spun from a single seamless piece with no welds or seams. Its low round base and seamless spun bowl are designed to withstand the elements and keep their brilliant finish for years.

Steakhouse-Quality Searing at Home

Elevate your home grilling with the ability to achieve those elusive 1,000°F+ sears. The Arteflame Classic 40" Flat Top Grill lets you transform ordinary steaks into gourmet delights, boasting that crisp, steakhouse-style outer layer while retaining a succulently juicy interior. It's no accident that the country's top steakhouses advertise their wood-fired grills and perfect sears — that combination is what separates a great steak from an ordinary one. An Arteflame brings that same steakhouse-level searing power home, which is exactly why people buy one.

A Complete Culinary Experience

With the Arteflame's dynamic heat distribution, grill an entire feast to perfection — and every dish comes off infused with real wood-fired flavor, not just heat. It's the same reason the best pizzerias fire their ovens with wood instead of gas: that smoke and char add a depth of flavor nothing else can replicate. On an Arteflame, that same wood flavor works like a seasoning on everything you cook, not just pizza — steaks pick up a rich, smoky char, and vegetables take on a subtle sweetness you simply can't get any other way. Different woods bring different character too, from bold hickory and mesquite to milder fruit woods like apple and cherry, so half the fun is experimenting. What's your favorite wood combination?

Versatility of the Arteflame Classic 40" Barbecue

Transition effortlessly from grilling gourmet meals to enjoying a serene fire bowl ambiance. Whether you're cooking with wood, charcoal, or enjoying it as a fire pit, the Arteflame 40" Fire Pit offers flexibility for any occasion.

Easy Maintenance and Year-Round Durability

Left outside through every season, the Arteflame's premium stainless steel body doesn't need covering or babying — it keeps its brilliant, brushed finish with barely more than an occasional wipe-down. Cleanup after cooking is just as simple: scrape the cooktop while it's still warm, empty the cooled ash, and it's ready for the next fire. Less time maintaining it means more evenings actually enjoying it.
