Ingredients
1 cup stone-ground white cornmeal (authentic Rhode Island style)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 cup hot water
1/2 cup milk (optional for softer cakes)
3 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
6 oz sharp cheddar cheese (sliced or shredded)
