Ingredients:
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, defrosted
  • Gouda cheese, or alternatively, Edam or Gruyere cheese slices
  • 3 Eggs, for breading
  • Breadcrumbs, for breading
  • Salt and black pepper, to season the breadcrumbs
  • Cooking oil, for brushing
Recipe Tips and Substitutions:
  • Opt for high-quality cheese that melts well like: Gouda, Edam, or Gruyere cheese for a rich flavor.  Try raclette cheese for a super melty treat!
  • For an extra flavor kick, consider adding a slice of ham inside the pastry before sealing.

Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:

    • Lay out the defrosted puff pastry sheets and slightly roll them with a rolling pin. Cut along the perforated lines to create 6 pieces in total.
  2. Assemble the Soufflés:

    • Fold the cheese slices in half and place one on each puff pastry piece. Fold the pastry over the cheese, pressing down the edges with a fork to seal and trim any excess pastry.
  3. Bread the Soufflés:

    • Beat the eggs in a small bowl. Mix salt and pepper into the breadcrumbs on a plate. Brush each soufflé with egg, then coat in the seasoned breadcrumbs.
