Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 2 cups Doritos (Nacho Cheese flavor recommended), finely crushed (or use Arteflame DIY Dorito powder)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

  • Preheat your Arteflame Grill to medium-high heat. Ensure the cooktop is clean and lightly oiled.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  • Place the crushed Doritos or Arteflame DIY Dorito powder in a third shallow dish.

2. Coat the Chicken:

  • Lightly coat each chicken breast in the flour mixture, which helps the egg wash adhere to the chicken.
  • Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, making sure it’s fully coated.
  • Finally, press each chicken breast into the crushed Doritos or Dorito powder, ensuring it’s well-coated on both sides.

3. Grill the Chicken:

  • Brush each side of the Dorito-coated chicken breasts with a little olive oil to prevent sticking and to help achieve a crispy texture.
  • Place the chicken on the Arteflame Grill. Cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and the Doritos crust is crispy and golden brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).

4. Serving:

  • Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after removing it from the grill to allow the juices to redistribute, making the chicken moist and tender.
  • Slice the chicken breasts into strips, if desired, and arrange them on a serving platter. Garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley for a burst of color and freshness.

5. Enjoy:

  • Serve your Dorito-Crusted Grilled Chicken hot, accompanied by your choice of sides. This dish pairs wonderfully with a simple green salad, grilled vegetables, or a creamy dip.

Chef's Note:

  • For an extra kick, choose a spicy flavor of Doritos or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • To ensure even cooking, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness before coating.

Alternatives and Variations:

1. Spicy Nacho Chicken

  • Use Spicy Nacho Doritos and add a dash of hot sauce to the egg wash for a fiery version.

2. Cool Ranch Chicken

  • Swap out Nacho Cheese Doritos for Cool Ranch Doritos and mix in some ranch seasoning with the flour for a zesty flavor.

3. BBQ Chicken

  • Mix BBQ sauce into the egg wash and use BBQ-flavored chips for a sweet and smoky twist.

4. Cheesy Garlic Chicken

  • Add grated Parmesan cheese to the Dorito coating and mix garlic powder into the flour for a rich, cheesy flavor.

5. Herb-Infused Chicken

  • Incorporate dried herbs like thyme or rosemary into the flour mixture for an aromatic twist.

Best Pairings:

  • Side Dish: Serve with a crisp green salad, roasted potatoes, or grilled corn on the cob for a complete meal.
  • Drink: Pair with a cold beer, iced tea, or a crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Dessert: Finish with a light dessert like fruit sorbet, lemon bars, or a berry parfait.

This Dorito-Crusted Grilled Chicken on the Arteflame Grill is a creative and delicious way to enjoy a classic dish with a crunchy, flavorful twist.
