Grilled Naan on the Arteflame Grill Recipe

Experience the joy of making your own Naan bread on the Arteflame Grill. This easy recipe will give you soft, fluffy, and slightly charred naan, perfect for accompanying your favorite grilled dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp warm water
  • 5 tbsp yogurt (plain)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for brushing
  • Warm water, as needed for dough
  • Garlic cloves, minced (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture:

    • Dissolve sugar in 3 tbsp of warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add the yogurt, olive oil, and the yeast mixture. Gradually add warm water as you mix until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place it back in the bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  3. Preheat the Arteflame Grill:

    • Get your Arteflame heated up and lightly oil the flat cooktop.
  4. Shape the Naan:

    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6-8 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball, then flatten and stretch it out into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick. For a garlic naan variation, press minced garlic and cilantro into the dough before grilling.
  5. Grill the Naan:

    • Place the naan dough directly on the Arteflame flat cooktop. Grill for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until puffed up and charred spots appear. Brush with olive oil as you flip them.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve the grilled naan warm, brushed with melted butter or ghee, and optionally sprinkled with chopped cilantro or garlic.

Grilling Tips:

  • Make sure the Arteflame cooktop is well-seasoned for the best non-stick surface.
  • Brushing the naan with olive oil before grilling adds flavor and helps achieve those beautiful charred spots.
