Mongolian Beef on the Arteflame Grill

This Mongolian Beef recipe brings the classic Chinese-American dish to your outdoor cooking with the Arteflame Grill, offering a savory, slightly sweet, and incredibly flavorful meal.

Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
¼ cup cornstarch
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
½ cup water
2 green onions, sliced
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, adjust to taste)
Sesame seeds for garnish

    Instructions:

    1. Prep the Steak:

      • Toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch until well-coated. Set aside for 10 minutes to let the cornstarch adhere to the steak.
    2. Prepare the Sauce:

      • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
    3. Heat the Arteflame Grill:

      • Preheat your Arteflame Grill, ensuring it's hot and ready for cooking.
    4. Cook the Beef:

      • Drizzle vegetable oil on the grill's flat top cooking surface. Add the beef slices, spreading them out. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until they start to get a nice sear.  For an extra
    5. Add Garlic and Ginger:

      • Push the beef to one side of the grill. Add a bit more oil if needed, and then add minced garlic and ginger to the clear side. Sauté for about a minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
    6. Combine and Simmer:

      • Mix the beef back with the garlic and ginger. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef. Let it simmer on the grill for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and coats the beef nicely.
    7. Final Touches:

      • Stir in the green onions and red pepper flakes. Remove from the grill and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
    8. Serve:

      • Serve your Mongolian Beef hot, ideally over a bed of steamed rice or noodles, for a complete meal.

    Grilling Tips:

    • Ensure the beef slices are dry before tossing them with cornstarch for a better sear.  Alternatively, you can also grill the beef in its entirety, then slice it.  This will allow for a great sear and a rare / medium rare inside.
    • Keep ingredients moving on the grill to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
    • The Arteflame Grill adds a unique smoky flavor to the dish, enhancing its overall taste.
