French Fries made on the Arteflame Grill

Ingredients:

4 large russet potatoes
2-3 tablespoons of high smoke point oil (e.g., canola or vegetable oil)
Sea salt, to taste
Optional: ground black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or fresh herbs for seasoning
Equipment:
Arteflame Grill
Large bowl
Paper towels
Tongs
Thermometer (for oil temperature, optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into strips of your desired thickness, aiming for uniformity for even cooking.
Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve crispiness.

Dry and Season:
Drain the potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Moisture on the surface can prevent crisping.
Toss the dry potato strips in a large bowl with oil and your choice of seasonings until evenly coated.

Preheat the Arteflame Grill:
Heat your Arteflame and get ready to grill!

Cook the French Fries:
Place the potato strips on the flat cooktop of the grill, spreading them out so they're not overcrowded.
Grill for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally with tongs, until they're golden brown and crispy.

NOTE: the edge closest to the grill grate is hotter than the outside edge.  You can brown / crisp the fries on the hotter part and then move them out to get them cooked all the way through.

Finish and Serve:
Remove the fries from the grill and let them drain on paper towels. Season with a little more sea salt while they're still hot.
Serve immediately for the best taste and texture, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauces.

Tips for Perfect Homemade French Fries:

Uniform Cuts: Consistent thickness ensures even cooking and perfect crispiness.
Soaking is Key: Removing starch by soaking the potatoes leads to crispier fries.
High Heat: The Arteflame Grill's unique design is perfect for achieving a high cooking temperature, essential for that golden crunch.
Season While Hot: Adding salt and seasonings right after cooking enhances flavor and adherence.

Master the art of making homemade French fries on your Arteflame Grill with this guide, and indulge in the ultimate comfort food that's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfect for sharing, these fries will be a hit at any outdoor gathering.
