  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Gouda, Gruyere, Raclette, Munster, or your favorite)

  1. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and melted butter; beat until smooth.
    • NOTE: You can add a bit of vanilla extract or vanilla coffee creamer for extra taste.
    • For an extra smooth texture, pour the batter through a strainer before using it.  This will removes all lumps, etc. and result in a silky smooth texture.
  2. Fire Up the Grill:

    • Preheat your Arteflame grill to medium-high heat to get it ready for grilling.
  3. Cook the Crepes:

    • Lightly oil the flat cooktop with butter. Pour or scoop the batter onto the cooktop, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Spread the batter on the cooktop with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
    • Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Sprinkle the shredded cheese onto the crepe and let it melt.
    • For a delicious grilled cheese taste, first put the cheese on the cooktop and melt it, then pour the batter over top of the cheese.  This will give you a delicious crunchy cheese taste!
  4. Serve:

    • Fold the crepe into quarters or roll it up. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

  • Butter vs. Olive Oil: Butter adds richness and flavor to the crepes, while olive oil keeps them light and crispy.
  • High Heat for Searing: Achieve a perfect texture by utilizing the high heat of the Arteflame Grill.
  • Cheese Choice: We recommend Gouda, Gruyere, Raclette or Munster cheese as these melt the best and stay soft after they cool.  These give the absolute best results.
  • Even Cooking: Spread the batter evenly to ensure consistent cooking.
