A cozy Thanksgiving turkey casserole with stuffing and veggies, cooked on the Arteflame

Introduction

This Thanksgiving Turkey Casserole is a delicious way to enjoy holiday flavors without cooking a full bird. It combines tender turkey with classic stuffing, savory vegetables, and a creamy sauce. Using the Arteflame grill, you can achieve a perfectly cooked, slightly smoky casserole with a crispy, golden top layer. It’s perfect for the holiday table or as a hearty use of Thanksgiving leftovers!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked turkey, shredded or cubed
  • 2 cups stuffing (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup turkey or chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Arteflame Grill
Light up the Arteflame grill by placing three vegetable oil-soaked paper napkins in the center with firewood stacked on top. Ignite and allow the grill to heat for about 20 minutes.

  2. Prepare the Casserole Mixture

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded turkey, stuffing, peas and carrots, diced onion, diced celery, cream of mushroom soup, broth, and sour cream.
    • Stir in the fresh thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
  3. Assemble the Casserole

    • Spread the casserole mixture evenly in a cast iron skillet or grill-safe baking dish.
    • If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  4. Grill the Casserole

    • Place the skillet on the cooler outer section of the Arteflame grill cooktop.
    • Cover loosely with foil and cook for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is heated through and bubbling. Remove the foil during the last 5-10 minutes to let the top become golden and crispy.
  5. Serve

    • Carefully remove from the grill, let it cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.

Tips

  • Use a Cast Iron Skillet: Cast iron holds heat well and gives the casserole an even cook and slightly crispy edges.
  • Make It Cheesy: For extra flavor, top with cheese, breadcrumbs, or crushed crackers.
  • Use Leftovers: This recipe is perfect for using up leftover turkey and stuffing from Thanksgiving.

Pairing Suggestions

Pair this casserole with a fresh green salad, cranberry sauce, or warm rolls for a complete meal.
