French Toast on the Arteflame Grill

Indulge in a classic breakfast favorite with a twist by preparing French toast on your Arteflame Grill. This recipe combines the rich, custardy center of traditional French toast with the delightful smoky flavor that only outdoor grilling can provide.

  • 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah work well)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for the grill
  • Maple syrup, fresh berries, and powdered sugar for serving

  1. Prepare the Custard Mixture:

    • In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
    • (If you do not have vanilla extract, you can use vanilla coffee creamer)
  2. Soak the Bread:

    • Dip each bread slice into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side. Ensure both sides are well-coated but not overly soggy.
  3. Preheat the Arteflame Grill:

    • Lightly oil the Arteflame Grill surface and preheat it. Use the flat cooktop to grill the French Toast.
  4. Grill the French Toast:

    • Place the soaked bread slices on the flat cooktop part of the grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve the grilled French toast hot, topped with maple syrup, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Tips for Perfect Grilled French Toast:

  • Bread Choice: Thick slices of bread like brioche or challah will hold up better on the grill and create a luscious texture.
  • Keep It Warm: If making multiple batches, keep cooked French toast warm on the outside edge of the cooktop until ready to serve.
